Gbarzonians Storm Providence This Weekend

–As 14th GDAA National Convention Gears Up

The city is Providence, Capital of Rhode Island, and the dates are August 26 – 28, 2022, when hundreds, perhaps thousands, of citizens of Gbarzon Statutory District in Grand Gedeh County residing in the Americas will converge for their 14th Annual Convention. The convention will bring together Gbarzonians from all over the United States. This is the first convention after the devastating COVID-19 Pandemic.

National President Jerome Pour will preside over the Convention, ably assisted by his corps of officers, as well as members of the Board of Director, headed by Eric Bantoe. Chapter coordinators will grace the annual convention. They are expected to make their annual report of chapter activities at the convention.

Dr. William D. Towah, a prominent Grand Gedean, will serve as Chief Launcher of the fund-raiser that is expected to raise funds for the Gbarzon District Association in the Americas (GDAA) projects back home in the district in Liberia. Mr. James Kayee will serve as Guest Speaker at the Convention.

Other officers expected to be in attendance are National Vice President Mlanyonorh Reeves, National Secretary Jerry Sarpee, National Financial Secretary Justin Y. Gaye, National Chairlady Emma Flahn, Host Chapter (Rhode Island) coordinator Cecelia Monroe, New England Chapter Chairlady Mamie Campbell, and National Queen, Miss Hawa Doe.

There will be National Queen contestants – Miss Lydia Weah will represent England Chapter and Miss Mamie Zeoh will represent the Iowa Chapter. It appears it would be a battle between the East Coast and Mid-West, a fight of who wins the national pride. Mid-West states have vowed to defeat the East Coast, but the latter says they are the host and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
